Course Description: This course will explore the history
and implications of the Eugenics Movement and the Human Genome Project and the
ethical implications of both this social movement and this scientific
undertaking completed in 2003. A
disability studies perspective will be employed.
Course Objectives:
1. To explore
the history of the Eugenics Movement and its implications for people with
disabilities.
2. To explore the Human Genome Project in light of
lessons learned in the Eugenics Movement.
3. To explore the meta-question: Whose body is it anyway?
